Part 14: Renewable Energy
The General Permitted Development Order (GPDO) allows for renewable energy on both domestic and commercial properties without planning permission. Part 14 allows for this. This includes solar panels, ground source heat pumps, wind turbines, air source heat pumps and more.
In addition to this section on renewable energy, further permitted development rights exist for houses in Part 1 and covers items such as extensions, dormers, porches, outbuildings, driveways, chimneys and satellite dishes.

The various Classes within Part 14 for the installation or alteration of renewable energy are broken down into residential and commercial locations and are as follows:
Class A โ Solar equipment on domestic premises
Class B โ Stand-alone solar equipment on domestic premises
Class C โ Ground source heat pumps on domestic premises
Class D โ Water source heat pumps on domestic premises
Class E โ Flue for biomass heating system on domestic premises
Class F โ Flue for combined heat and power on domestic premises
Class G โ Air source heat pumps on domestic premises
Class H โ Wind turbine on domestic premises
Class I โ Stand-alone wind turbine on domestic premises
Class J โ Solar equipment on commercial premises
Class K โ Stand-alone solar equipment on commercial premises
Class L โ Ground source heat pump on commercial premises
Class M โ Water source heat pump on commercial premises
Class N โ Flue for biomass heating system on commercial premises
Class O โ Flue for combined heat and power on commercial premises
